As I begin this post it’s a typical day at “work.” I’m sitting at desk and just finished a Zoom call with the entire company of 52 people, “Brady-Bunch” style. My cheeks hurt from laughter, and my cat is sitting on my lap as a personal heating blanket.
I take a moment for a transition breath. I’m aware of how fortunate I am, not just for the physical environment of my remote work office — or for the more important aspects of my life like health, family and security — but for the people I work with each day at TaxJar.
We can all be thankful for the many blessings we have in our lives, but it’s rare to be part of a team that shows their gratitude toward one another each and every day and not just in November. What sets TaxJar apart from any other place I’ve worked before is that the team is truly grateful to be on this mission together and that they are all living each day with gratitude and kindness.
Last week in our unique and fully-distributed work environment, we encouraged the team to share a few things that meant something special to them on our Basecamp daily updates.
What followed was an inspiring list that perfectly illustrates how amazing the TaxJar team is. With this in mind, I had to share a few highlights for a peek into the most important aspect of TaxJar culture: gratitude.
Note: Personal mentions are omitted for privacy, but I’ll share a few tidbits that inspired me.
We all lead busy lives. It’s often hard to find the time to remember the important things and take the time to reflect on the blessings we’ve been given, big or small. This was simply a small exercise that demonstrated how important continuing to create connection is at TaxJar and truly showcased how deeply we all do care for one another, our jobs and this company.
I’m grateful to work among a team of folks who are not only thankful to be here, but recognize the unique opportunity to work with amazing people everyday. Most importantly, we’re a team living out gratitude in all the work we do to help our customers and team succeed.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
